SIX and Pictet Successfully Pilot Corporate Bond Tokenization on SDX Platform
The Swiss Stock Exchange (SIX) and Banque Pictet & Cie SA have completed a landmark pilot project, tokenizing corporate bonds denominated in euros and Swiss francs. The initiative, executed on the regulated SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), marks a significant step toward institutional adoption of blockchain-based financial instruments.
For the first time, traditional bonds were fractionalized into tokens, enabling finer portfolio segmentation and automated rebalancing. "This is a milestone for tokenized securities," said David Newns, Head of SDX. The infrastructure maintains the legal nature of traditional products while offering the efficiency of distributed ledger technology.
The pilot demonstrates how asset managers like Pictet can implement tailored investment strategies previously constrained by conventional structures. SDX's fully regulated workflow—covering issuance, trading, and settlement—sets a new standard for institutional-grade digital asset solutions.
